UTICA, NY - The St. Elizabeth Trauma Center of the Mohawk Valley Health System and Midstate EMS will host the 31stannual Trauma Symposium on Friday, June 2, 2017, at Vernon Downs Casino and Hotel in Vernon, New York.
Presentations begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m. Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Presentation topics include:
- Lessons learned from the San Bernardino shootings
- Neurosurgical trauma
- Living with a spinal cord injury
- What crisis workers need to know about PTSD in the workplace
- Emergency Department case studies
- Agricultural trauma.
“In addition to providing outstanding care to severely injured patients, the trauma service at St. Elizabeth Campus is committed to offering professional, trauma-centered education to the region,”said Tracey Barone, RN, BSN, trauma coordinator. “It is important for healthcare providers to maintain and enhance their knowledge and skills needed to care for injured patients, and we are proud to offer this symposium to the community annually.”
Midstate REMAC has approved this conference for three hours of Basic Life Support (BLS) and three hours of Advanced Life Support (ALS) Continuing Medical Education (CME) for all level of EMS providers. This activity has also been submitted for approval for contact hours from the American Association of Respiratory Therapists.
