UTICA, N.Y. – National Women’s Health Week is celebrated every year beginning on Mother’s Day, and serves as a reminder to women to make their health a priority. In today’s fast paced world, it is very difficult for women to take time out of their busy schedules to spend time on themselves. This is why we are extending Women’s Health Week, by hosting a Women’s Health Open House on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, to celebrate women in our area. The open house will be held at the Mohawk Valley Health System’s (MVHS) Faxton Campus in the Newell Street lobby from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Faxton Campus is located at 807 Newell Street, Utica.
“In today's world, women often put themselves and their health last on their "to do" list,”said Laura Borgos, MD, breast surgeon and director of the MVHS Breast Program.“It is important for women to care for themselves so they can be more effective mothers, wives, sisters, friends, etc. This is a great opportunity to learn of all of the available health services, preventative and otherwise, that MVHS has to offer. Breast care, health and wellness, nutrition and imaging are just some of the services that will be represented at the event. Take care of yourself and take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.”
The event is free and open to the public and attendees will enjoy a free glass of heart-healthy red wine, hors d’ourves, massages, goody bags, door prizes and local vendor displays with items available for purchase. The MVHS programs and services that will be present include the Wellness Center, Cancer Center, Breast Care Center, Nutrition Services, Surgical Services, Lymphedema Support, Imaging Services, Diabetes Program, Rehabilitation Services and more.
