UTICA, N.Y. - St. Elizabeth College of Nursing (SECON) graduated 90 new nurses on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Of the 90 graduates, 69 attended weekday classes and 21 participated in the evening/weekend program. The 112th graduation ceremony was held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, following a procession across Genesee Street.
College President Varinya Sheppard, DNP, RN, CENP, Jessica Eldred, MS, RN, FNP, and Beverly Plante, MS, RN, CNE, Deans of Student and Faculty Development, presented the graduates with their associate in Applied Science degrees. Senior class advisors Doreen Delrosario, MS, RN, and Michelle Wolff, MS, RN, presented them with the SECON pin.
Scott Perra, FACHE, president/ CEO of the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), welcomed the graduates, faculty, staff and participants. The commencement address was given by Robert Scholefied, Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of MVHS.
Valedictorians are Megan Mahardy of Utica, New York, and Marianna Notaro of Clinton, New York.
Salutatorian is Sabrina Verdgeline of Rome, New York.
The College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc., and registered by the New York State Education Department.
