UTICA, N.Y. – The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Waterville Office at 117 West Main Street, Waterville, New York, has been identified through the New York State Department of Health's Assessment Feedback Incentives eXchange (AFIX) Program for achieving or exceeding a 90 percent immunization rate for two-year-old children. This office is the first in Oneida County to receive this recognition.

Staff members from the Oneida County Health Department, Melanie Adams and Marina Kistner, presented a certificate of excellence to staff members in late May.

“Studies have shown that parents trust their pediatrician’s guidance and it is important to give a strong recommendation for vaccination,” said Phyllis D. Ellis, Director of Health for Oneida County. “This provider took every opportunity to improve vaccine confidence and let parents know that vaccines are safe and effective, and that not vaccinating could put their children at risk for very serious diseases. It has definitely proven to be an evidence-based approach for increasing vaccination rates.”
