The Department of Psychiatry at the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) has inpatient units at our two main campuses – St. Elizabeth and St. Luke’s – that serve patients 18 years and older who require acute psychiatric inpatient care.
The therapeutic mission of the unit is to treat patients with acute mental disorders or those with serious and persistent mental illness, during periods of exacerbation.
Treatments available include psychiatric assessment, medical assessment, treatment planning, group therapy, nursing, social services, activities therapy, nutritional services, spiritual services and psychiatric consult service.
Substance Abuse Treatment
MVHS provides immediate treatment to any individuals presenting to our facilities who are physically compromised. Once the patient is stabilized, the staff works with local agencies to refer the patient to an inpatient or outpatient facility – depending on the needs and preferences of the individual. MVHS does not provide medical detoxification services, however we are committed to helping individuals connect with facilities that provide the necessary services.
