County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that public parking fees will start being charged at the Oneida County Parking Garage in Downtown Utica on Dec. 2, 2024.
“Since opening to the public on July 20th, the Oneida County Parking Garage has been a vital addition to downtown Utica, providing essential parking to staff, patients and visitors to the Wynn Hospital, and to those visiting area businesses and attractions,” Picente said. “Now that the complimentary free public parking period is coming to a close, instituting these minimal fees on non-hospital related spaces will allow us to maintain the facility’s integrity and ensure that spaces are available to those who need them.”
Parking will be free for the first two hours to any driver utilizing the county garage for public parking and a fee of $2 per hour will be charged thereafter.
Parking is free to those utilizing the county garage to visit the Wynn Hospital. Those patients and visitors will have their parking tickets validated by Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) staff upon leaving the hospital.
“The Oneida County Parking Garage is a wonderful asset to the Wynn Hospital campus, providing convenient and safe parking to our employees, patients and visitors,” said Darlene Stromstad, FACHE, MVHS President & CEO. “We thank the County for this beautiful addition to the campus, and we are pleased to offer free parking to those using the garage for hospital business. Our free valet service also continues and is available at the main entrance of the Wynn Hospital.”
The public parking fees collected will be utilized by Oneida County to assist with maintenance of the facility.
The five-floor facility offers approximately 1,330 total parking spaces, 334 of which are public. Seventy of the public spaces are set aside for Emergency Department parking. Public parking is available on the first floor of the garage and a portion of the second floor.
