Prashant Deshmane, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction and sports medicine and offers nonsurgical and surgical care for hip, knee and shoulder injuries. He is certified to perform robotic-assisted surgeries using the Mako SmartRobotics™ system for Total Knee, Partial Knee and/or Total Hip replacements.
Dr. Deshmane also serves as clinical associate professor in Orthopedic Surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. Prior to joining MVHS, Dr. Deshmane was the Orthopedic Residency site director and attending orthopedic surgeon for the VA Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. He also previously worked at the Adult Reconstruction and Sports Medicine Surgeon at Carolina Pines Medical Center in Hartsville, South Carolina.

Dr. Deshmane received his medical degree from King Edward Memorial Hospital and completed his residency at Seth Gordhandas Sundardas Medical College, both in Mumbai, India.
He completed a clinical research fellowship tribology of articular surfaces in joint replacement at Dorr Arthritis Institute in Los Angeles, California. Following which, he trained in hip and knee joint replacement and revision joint replacement at Lenox Hill Hospital and at Insall Scott Kelly Institute for Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in New York City, New York. He also completed additional training in orthopedic sports medicine fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois where he worked as assistant team physician with the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Cubs.
Dr. Deshmane is certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
