The MVHS Thoracic Oncology Program (TOP) is a program that identifies high-risk patients who meet the criteria for lung, esophageal, and other types of thoracic cancer screening and monitors these patients. In the program, you will be assigned a nurse navigator who will also be your primary point of contact for patients and families if a cancer diagnosis is made, and will provide individualized assistance to help overcome healthcare system barriers and facilitate timely access to quality health from pre-diagnosis through all phases of the cancer experience.

Each patient’s case is reviewed in our multidisciplinary conferences held weekly to ensure all of our patients receive the best care possible. Many different specialties participate in the TOP, including Thoracic Surgery, Pulmonology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, Radiology, Palliative Care, PT/OT, Social Workers and Case Managers. Studies have shown that patients treated in a multidisciplinary program have improved outcomes related to their cancer treatments.

Types of cancers treated include lung, esophageal, and other types of thoracic cancer. Contact our nurse navigator at 1-877-909-LUNG (5864) to make an appointment.
